Do Something!

When it comes to training there a TON of options that you can chose from & several methodologies that you can follow. All of these options can be overwhelming for someone just starting out or trying to get back in the saddle.

I tend to look at exercising much like investing; one of the most important things is to start. You don’t have to find the absolute best option out there. Many times all the different options can leave a person wondering, “which is the best option for me?”. Most times any option is the best since they haven’t yet started one. An untrained body that hasn’t been consistently exercised has no training to react from – therefore no adaptations.  Just like your physics class, an object will only move once a force has acted upon it. If there is no movement, there is no adaptation. Just moving will be enough to get you started!

Of course, it is good to have a game plan to tackle your fitness goals but over-complicating things in the beginning versus going with a simple method can often stagnant any progress that could have been made.

My best advice is first to consult your physician to make sure you are able and safe for exercise programming. Secondly, find something that interests you and start doing it. That’s it.  Nothing over the top, nothing cutting edge just simply doing something fitness related that interests you. Life can be complicated but your exercise programming doesn’t have to be!
